Expensive Oil (Part 2)

A follow up to my last post. I actually had to catch a bus to work today! The starter motor in our car died so had to get NRMA to replace it. I got to work at 12 just as everyone were heading out for their lunch breaks...

Haha, I love those blogspot ad-bots. I'm sure that Adware Remover will do a great job of removing Adware *cough*.

Anyway, yeah, it's very expensive now. It's one of the reasons why I'm not planning to buy a car anytime soon.

Jeff why won't your blog let me comment on two posts ago where you went all crazy philosophical, was keen to ask what you were talking about/smoking?

Petrol is too expensive, curse those who make it so.

Why can't you catch the bus in cool weather??? It's way better than bussing it when it's 30 degrees outside and the bus is a public sauna.

I don't see anything wrong with Petrol prices being determined by market forces. Part of the reason why it is "too expensive" is because us, the consumers, have demanded it.

Err Mark, a little bit harsh there? Everyone can have their say on this blog...

Yes I was harsh if you take what I say literally and to heart.

If you recognise the fact that i'm kidding you might get mild entertainment.

If you don't and are offended then you need to look at how seriously you take someone's comments on the internet.

That's what i reckon anyway.

Actually, I like being called a nerd so it doesn't actually do anything.

Anyway, if I have 5 barrels of oil and I know 7 people who actually want a barrel of oil each, then obviously I am going to raise my prices and sell the oil as high as I can.

But if there was only 5 people who wanted a barrel each, then prices wouldn't go up...

So if you just want to blame someone for the price rise and don't want to blame yourself, then just blame those bloody asians (Chinese, Indians, etc.) Their hunger for oil will never end.

Or blame Hurricane Katrina for destroying some of the US oil infrastructure.

That argument is logical however not what you claimed. The large consumer market has CAUSED high oil prices. Very different to demanding it.

Ok, I suppose I should correct it in saying that consumers have demanded the product itself, not the price rise.
