In X between Y dreams

Went to Dirt Cheap CDs after work this morning hoping for a spending spree. Didn't quite do that but bought a couple of albums nonetheless - Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams and Coldplay's X&Y. $15 each, what a bargain. Will listen to both of them after I whack the songs onto the iPod. One wonders how HMV/Sanity can compete with that place and Rock Bottom Music. A person from work offered to burn me a copy of X&Y last week. I turned the offer down because I wanted the album cover art and booklet as well, something she was not able to provide.

Bumped into Nora and Jo on the train trip back to Chatswood. Nora was on a 'high' after drinking Barcadis and a Boost Juice. Silly girl (and an alcoholic?) :P :P We also found a New Zealand passport and had a quick flick through. Seems like the guy is a seasoned traveller to south east asian countries with well over 30+ stamps. Well he won't be going too far if he's intending to board a flight tomorrow. So Mr M, if you are a Kiwi and you lost your passport today, go claim it from Chatswood Station.

"I'm here giving you an interview, answering your questions and you do something really nasty ...you're a jerk ... "

Ahhh Tom Cruise and the water squirting incident...Where do you draw the line between a prank and going too far? Nice story to wake up to on a Monday morning though...
Watch the prank here

Investigate-a-classmate?
Been going on a few site visits lately and this is one of the more interesting ones (site that is, not what we are designing):

The guy who runs the place "spent 11 years of honourable service in the New South Wales Police Department. He was retired on medical grounds, resultant out of injuries sustained by him whilst in the execution of his duty." Woah, someone not to mess around with.

Bball update
We have played each other at least once so after 8 games we are sitting on equal fourth:

TEAM WON LOST TOTAL POINTS
Federales W 8 L0 24Pts
Alarming W 7 L1 21Pts
Zero Tolerance W6 L2 20Pts
Rice W4 L4 16Pts
Balgowlah Beavers W4 L4 16Pts
Has Been Gladiators W3 L5 14Pts
Madcats W2 L6 12Pts
Lateral Systems W1 L7 10Pts
Autobots W1 L7 10Pts

Not surprisingly we lost games against the top three and Balgowlah Beavers so we're doing alright. At least our games are competitive unlike summer Oztag (Note: not a whinge). After a bye this week, we get another crack at the Federales who smashed us in the opening game...think we'll be ready this time? :0

Busy July
My future looks sorted...for next month at least. I'll finish on the 7th, jet off to HK for a week, come back and head straight to MYC 2005, my first ever. Dunno what to expect but then again I didn't know what to expect for KYC earlier this year either and I had a great time :) Then the following week it's back to uni...and work. Yup, looks like my weekly timetable for next session will be 2.5 days of uni, 2.5 days of work and 2 days of rest. I have no idea how I'll juggle uni and work...I'll probably sleep in lectures ^_^

Stuvac...um...yeah...

People, good luck for your exams. I wait in anticipation to hear stories about...

Pulling all nighters.
Getting lost trying to find the examination hall.
Skipping your exams.
Skipping your exams to go to the pokies instead.
Stuffing ups (but end up getting a distinction for the subject).
Cheating in exams.
Having a whinge about exams on consecutive days.
Your dog chewed up all your study notes.

Rugby Rivalry

What? A High 3rd XV is still around? And a Grammar 4th XV? Hmmm...At least the rivarly is still there.

Rugby dad hit me, says student

A Sydney Boys High student who alleges he was bashed on the sidelines of a GPS rugby match has told police the attack was carried out by two adults, including a father from the opposition school.

The year 12 student went to police last Sunday to report the episode, which allegedly occurred the morning before.

In a statement, the 17-year-old said he was punched in the back of the head by a 19-year-old Sydney Grammar supporter, then held down and kicked in the face by an older man, who he believed to be a Grammar father.

Rose Bay police have confirmed they have statements from witnesses and are investigating.

The violence erupted early in the second half of a game between the Sydney High Third XV rugby team and Sydney Grammar's Fourth XV at Grammar's home ground, Weigall Oval.

But the alleged victim told police that hostilities had been triggered earlier in the game when he was deliberately rucked by a Grammar player. Punches were thrown and he was sent to the sin bin, where he became involved in an argument with a group of Grammar students and supporters.

According to his statement he suffered a split lip and a bruised head in the fight that led to the referee calling the game off early.

The chairman of the GPS headmasters' committee, Robert Iles, said the headmasters from the two schools were very concerned about "an off-game incident that involved some spectators". He was not aware yesterday whether the schools had taken any action.

During the week Grammar Fourth XV players told the Herald that media reports had given a one-sided and exaggerated account of what happened.

One said: "We were playing down the other end of the field, but it just looked like two people pushing and shoving. We've heard nothing about a parent being involved."

Another added: "The High guy had been causing trouble from the start of the game. First he pushed one of our players over, then he punched another guy and gave him a bloody mouth."

A Sydney High parent, who asked not to be named, said the schools had developed a bitter rivalry.

"The kids there turn their noses up because we're a public school. The boys chant that we don't have any money - it's quite disgusting," she said.

Sydney High and Grammar declined to comment.

Mmmm...Takoyaki

Every Thursday is markets day in Chatswood and there's this Japanese stall that sells nothing but Takoyaki. What is Takoyaki I hear you ask? It's a Japanese dumpling made of batter, octopus, sprinkled with bonita (fish) flakes and topped up with takoyaki sauce, worcestershire sauce and mayonnaise. Here is a picture:

Lovely ain't it? It's yummy too! And for $5-$8 (sorry, the pic is a little bit misleading. You get 8 balls), it's the perfect way to fill that hungry stomach after a hard morning's work. Now if only they set up stall everyday...
