Team Rice: Season tip-off

Yup, I share the same number as Yao Ming and maybe play in the same position as him but that's where our similarities end. Tonight was the season tip-off for Rice, a team of asian uni students with nothing better to do but play Bball in the lowest division of the Northern Suburbs Basketball Association comp. Our opening game was against a team who call themselves Federales and we certainly could of used the 7-6 Yao or someone like him. I was the tallest in the team at 5-11 and we were no match against a team of tall and fit 30-40 yr old grandpas. And it was 5 (them) on 7 (us)! We were swamped right from the start by these big men and I think they scored about 15 points before we got our first basket. We were still on single digit at half time. It was much the same in the second half and by the end of the game they have scored 44 points to our 23. After 1 game (we had a bye last week) we are second from bottom but it feels good to be playing competitive basketball again. Last time I played was waayyyyy back in high school (been 4 yrs already?!?!?!)

Kogster's contribution: I got 2 points and 8 rebounds in around 25 mins of playing time. I also got called for 3 fouls - all of them offensive fouls for 'moving screens' Hahahaha now that's funny. As well, it was the first time I played competitive sport after my bout of tendonitis so my heel is a bit sore at the moment. Hopefully it feels better when I wake up tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.

Coppers everywhere

It's the long weekend again which means coppers are out in force making motorists feel nervous about their wallets ($$$$ and points). Yesterday I got RBTed after work on Delhi Road. Cops have been setting up shop outside the crematorium place the past two Fridays so be careful when you go around that area. Funnily enough, a couple of guys from work asked whether I wanted to join them for drinks at the Chelsea Bar earlier. Glad I said no. Think I'll catch the bus on Fridays from now if I'm going for drinks after work. This morning I was on the way to the airport to pick my mum up and they had another RBT set up, this time on Victoria Rd outside Riverside girls H.S and finally on Harris St, City, a couple of cops were doing their thing with speed guns. I think I would of been in a bit of strife for this one but luckily I got past them just as they were picking up the gun after nabbing an unlucky fellow. Whheewwww. With just 4 points left and two months before I get my full license, I don't want to stuff up now do I?

'Stress relief area'

Go VODAFONE=)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Speaking of stress, I'm so buggered right now. Believe it or not, I've been to the office EVERYDAY this week. Yes, including yesterday and today. Why? To help out the big mess the company got themselves into because of bad record keeping/organising. To keep us going, the company fed us chips, sausage rolls, cakes, croissants and pizzas...I've had Pizza Hut pizzas for the past 3 days (Every second Friday is pizza day and we had one a couple of days ago). So you can say I've been getting FREE food from the company but hey, being a prisoner in your own office is not the ideal way to spend your weekend is it? They still got people working there as I type so hopefully they get the whole thing over and done with. My manager and this other guy stayed till 3am this morning punching numbers into Excel spreadsheets and comparing them to the database. Poor dudes.

2Gb storage??

When (and more interestingly, where) will the counter stop on the Gmail login page?? It's been running ever since yesterday and showing no signs of slowing down. Maybe it'll stop at 2048Mb to indicate the extra Gb they are giving us. 2Gb of email storage? Whoa.
