What was ZZ thinking...?

A World Cup final.
Captain of your country.
Last football game of your professional career.
1 second of madness:

Red Card.

Only Zidane and Materazzi can tell us what happened in the 110th minute of this morning's Final. The game itself was alright. Both sides had good chances and it was relatively free-flowing football. I think France was unfortunate to lose Vieira and Henry to injuries before Zidane's brain explosion and by that stage, they were mentally gone.

what a spectacular fall though, you have to admit that materazzi didn't even have to make it as dramatic as he did, but points for effort

at least it was more believable COUGH (BULLSHIT!!!) than the 'Fabio' Grosso one against Australia

maybe Zidane just wanted a little something extra to wax that bowling ball of his

Thats mad, to me Zidane showed integrity and resolution. Doesn't matter where you are or whats at stake... if you want to say nasty things to me I'll put you into the ground. 10/10 for attitude. I think he could have been slightly more creative in the way he went about it though, there was a definite lack of claret. It seems to me if you are going to intentionally resort to action which will ultimately result in you being sent off it makes sense to make sure that the other person is sent off at the same time... on a stretcher.

Zidane does have a pretty powerful head... or at least it seems so with the amount of goals he puts away.
